December 31, 2002 - Lightwave 3D 7.5
So.... I bought a legal copy of Lightwave 3D 7.5 today. *joy*. I've been using a... <a-hum> trial version for the last couple of years. I finally get to be paying customer for Newtek, a company that richly deserves paying customers. Sorry it took me a while, guys (it ain't cheap)!

December 2, 2002 - Thanksgiving Holiday
I went to visit my parents in Austin over the holiday. It was a pretty nice holiday. I got to see my sister and brother-in-law, which is a rare pleasure. 3 or 4 days away from a computer is pretty long. I don't think I like being away from home, much.

December 3, 2002 - Dentist
Finally had my dentist appointment. After 2 appointment delays, and 2 cancellations, I was starting to be a bit disappointed. When I finally had my appointment, he and his office staff were fun, pleasant, and enthusiastic. Apparently, I have a bad filling from my Saudi Arabia days, and need it fixed... with a root canal. Bummer next Monday, I guess.

November 25, 2002 - Dentist appointment
<rant>So... I had a dentist appointment this morning. I get to the office on time (maybe a couple minutes early) and the door is locked. I wait for about 15 minutes, before someone shows up to open the door. I go in, and she tells me that the doctor had to cancel my appointment, because of a death in his family. He won't be back in the office until next week. I get to work, and find voicemail indicating that my appointment would be postponed by 45 minutes.
Let's work that out. They wanted me to come in 45 minutes later... so they could tell me that my appointment would be cancelled?</rant>

November 21, 2002 - Illustrator Celtic Knotwork
Adobe Illustrator 8.0 Tutorial on how to create a Celtic Knotwork design. This is a pretty quick and easy way to make a nice writhing Celtic pattern.

November 20, 2002 - Allergies
Well, it appears that I'm allergic to mangos. What a bummer... they're totally my favorite kind of fruit, and one of my favorite foods.

November 10, 2002 - Additional failure
For some reason, I didn't keep an appropriate archive of my registration materials, and was only able to install the 14-day evaluation version of my DNS software (JH Software's Simple DNS). It expired, taking out my network. Fortunately the people at JH were very prompt about re-issuing my serial numbers. I thought it was pretty decent of them, since I bought my registration codes more than 2 years ago, and I doubt that larger companies would have been as sympathetic to my plight. I still want to re-image my W2K server.

November 1, 2002 - Space War Game
Started my space war game in Blitz Basic. This language allows incredibly rapid development. I'm not happy with how I've done everything -- I intend to do a significant re-write, but in less than a day and a half, I developed enough of an interface (galaxy view, star maps, planet maps, satellite maps, resources, ships) to start working out the necessary game architecture.

October 25, 2002 - Repeated Failures
This has been an unfortunate couple of months for me. For some reason, my servers experienced severed instability for about a month. Shortly afterward, I had a complete hard disk failure, which took out my server. Since I have a nice web-enabled interface to create, edit, publish my files and pages, a significant part of my site was wiped out. The disk failure, I fear was permanent. I rebuilt this server afterward with a new disk, getting back online. Note: I'm not happy. I didn't pay adequate attention when rebuilding this server, and accidentally set everything up with a weird drive structure. I hunger to rebuild this from scratch with an appropriate install.
